Position: Video Application Engineer

Description:
Squid's technology provides outstanding performance for a wide variety of embedded applications. We have an opening for a senior level engineer with a blend of excellent technical and communication skills. Working internally with Engineering, Architecture, and Marketing, this position is expected to provide highly technical input towards product definition and development and expertise to customers to achieve results in conjunction with the sales efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Application of video algorithms towards Squid's new and next generation products
• Create optimized implementations of algorithms
• Perform benchmarks and competitive analysis
• Quickly learn new algorithms, both from specifications and from customer code
• Write application notes and other documentation
  

Job Qualifications:

• Detailed familiarity with video/audio compression standards (MPEG2, MPEG4, H.264, etc.) and video pre- and post-processing
• 5+ years' experience in high-performance embedded system software development
• Working knowledge of processor architecture
• Excellent C coding skills
• Video encode/decode/transcode productization and implementation experience
• DSP algorithms implementation and optimization on DSP processors
• Skill in optimizing code in C or assembly language
• Good communication skills and ability to work with customers
• BS EE/CS, MS or PhD EE/CS preferred
